Microscopy plays a pivotal role in life science research. Recent breakthroughs in microscopy techniques and image analysis have opened up new possibilities for studying biological specimens at previously unattainable levels of detail. Going beyond fundamental theory, the primary goal of this course is to employ contemporary microscopy and quantitative image analysis methodologies to tackle scientific questions. Practical assignments will be carried out by small teams under individual guidance, enabling students to utilize cutting-edge imaging technologies, including two-photon, light-sheet, super-resolution, and electron microscopy, within a laboratory setting.
